Post by: christians4jews on January 06, 2012, 03:44:50 pm
Is this calm before the storm, or is obama doing something right. Evidently unemployment down to 8.7 percent, 6 monthly fall. Is this luck?

Hit me with someof your economics folks...

Unemployment does not include those who have 'given up' on looking for work and have left the workforce entirely.   Little has changed in the last few months, other than many Americans 'giving up'

Economy can be manipulated in a manner that it can degenerate a year before the elections due to the faults of the past and can again improve months before the elections owing to the good efforts of the present.

Unemployment is always lower during the last few months of the year... The holiday season always causes companies to put on a bit more help... Lets see what the next quarter brings before jumping to any conclusions... There is a lot of spin put on reports like this by the media... Over the past few years or so the media talks up the financial picture early in the day and saves the more dismal news for later in the evening.

:::D Yes its called make work programs... FDR had the W.P.A ( Works progress administration) and the CCC ( civilian conservation corps. ) to get people off the streets and back to work... The problem is programs like this cost the taxpayer money... The larger problem is when programs like this are needed tax revenue in most cases is down... It's a short term fix for a long term problem... In the long run its not sustainable... Back in FDR's time the government at least got some great bridges, roads and parks build for a good price... Our sitting presidents green program only seems to rip the tax payers off funding bogus companies.
